Desirement*

Desirement* is artist, Bob Brooks’ 2018 post-retirement debut series.  

Desirement* was installed at Visual Space Gallery in Vancouver, B.C. between October 12 - 14, 2018.

“The works represented in this series are an expression of my desire to paint, pure and simple. Five images in this series are based on Shack Island in Nanaimo while five others are inspired by locations in Vancouver. These images were quick sketches that were loose and un-resined which to me was a part of the risk I wanted to take in this installation. These ‘exposed’ works of art allow the viewer a look at the naked beginnings of each of these pieces. Also presented in the Desirement series at Visual Space were a number of earlier works with a resin finish. These pieces were installed alongside the sketches to allow the viewer to see my full process as an artist and to express just how important resin is to me as a medium of choice.” - Artist, Bob Brooks
