“There is a beach near Tofino where a shear but broken rock face meets the sand. It is a beautiful but rugged area of the world that has tempted me to try a different approach. The stark surface reminds me of the lines in the face of an old man. “Stone Face” is representational but is abstracted. I have centered my attention on the line quality and the shapes that are created as planes of colour meet.”
